Existential Ponderings – Perspective shifting thoughts
Why finding your purpose and place is so important.
‘The equations of quantum mechanics and their consequences are used daily in widely varying fields: by physicists, engineers, chemists & biologists. Yet they remain mysterious. Does it mean that reality is only an interaction?’
Einstein’s theory ‘describes a colourful and amazing world where universes explode, space collapses into bottomless holes, time sags and slows near a planet, and the unbounded extensions of intersteller space ripple and sway like the surface of the sea. And all of this…was reality. A reality which seemed to be made of the same stuff our dreams are made of, but which is nevertheless more real than our clouded quotidian dreaming.’
If you stop and think…really think.
These are mind-blowing concepts that provide a strong sense of perspective and meaning to our existence. In doing so, they also reveal a quiet confidence and self-assurance. In the grand scheme of it all, nobody is really an expert at anything. Why? Because the lives of humankind are but a mere blink when placing it in the context of the cosmos.
When I mentor, this is what I share:
It’s important to have a wider understanding of the world and our place in it – to challenge and shift perspectives leads to growth. It provides a sense of balance to the chaos that us, humans have created. It breeds a sense of purpose and joy which can lead to feelings of empowerment. If we are all but specs of dust originating within a universe that even the most intelligent minds are still trying to resolve, well – is it not time to live your life as you please? To break the shackles of any human made systems that favour one group over the other, and just be?
Such is my mindset.
Live your life, as you choose. Find your purpose – search long and hard. For unhappiness and unfulfillment are blocking you from achieving your dreams.
In the end, we all know where we are going – so make the journey count.
